Huston Respiratory Illnesses Policy Updates: Including COVID-19, Flu and RSV

UPDATED 04/08/2024

The safety and wellbeing of all who visit Camp Huston is our priority. In an attempt to help keep one another safe and healthy, we acknowledge that Covid-19 still exists and continues to impact our guests and staff. We also acknowledge that we, as a community, are now in a very different phase of the pandemic or endemic (experts still do not agree on which classification we are currently in). That being said, people are still dying from Covid as well as the Flu and RSV and in an effort to help protect each other we highly recommend and encourage all of our campers, conference center guests and staff to get vaccinated against all communicable respiratory illnesses that they are able to get at this time.

Summer Camp 2024:

• Covid testing will no longer be required to attend summer camp.
• We ask that if your camper is experiencing symptoms of any respiratory illness or they have been exposed to someone who has recently tested positive for COVID-19, Flu or RSV, please keep your camper at home.
• At Check-In, each camper’s temperature will be taken and recorded during the required health screening provided. If it is determined by our Health Care professional that the camper does have a fever, the parent/guardian will be required to take the camper home.
• If while attending Summer Camp, your camper experiences symptoms of a respiratory illness (i.e. Covid-19, RSV, Flu symptoms) the camper will be examined by the Health Care professional and may be tested for Covid using an antigen test provided at no charge by Camp Huston.
• If the camper’s test comes back positive or the camper has a fever, the parent/guardian will be called to come pick up their camper and go home.

See our general Summer Camp Policies and Procedures, which can be found here in your session letter.
